THERAPEUTIC COUNSELLOR FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE UK: Meeting the needs of young people therapeutically today and in the future

Hello... and a warm welcome to my Website. My name is Terri Lloyd and I am an adolescent counsellor specializing in therapeutic counselling and psychotherapy for teenagers and young people between the ages of 11 to 21 years. I have over 10 years experience of working with teenagers and young people in schools and the voluntary sector providing counselling and therapeutic support. I am committed to providing counselling to young people in a safe, confidential and non judgemental environment.

Therapy is not about trying to cure you or "fix you." It's not about telling you what's right or wrong, what you should or shouldn't do. For me it's about looking at and identifying the changes you want to bring about in your life, supporting you with this to take action and reach your full potential.

My approach to counselling with teenagers is to work holistically and acknowledge the importance of the young person - on a mind, body, spirit and emotional level. My work is to promote healing, self-understanding and personal growth.

I offer 1:1 short and long term counselling/therapeutic work, which will be tailored to your individual needs.

I also offer online counselling within the UK on a short or long term basis, via email or Instant Messaging (skype).

It can be tough being a teenager in today's society. Not only do they have to deal with normal teenage issues... the psychological and biological changes, but the temptations and choices and decisions they may have to face are vast and can be overwhelming.

As a teenager... Unexpected life events can suddenly happen which you don't understand and you may find difficult to cope with. This may lead to overwhelming feelings that you find difficult to understand or control and cannot make sense of, leaving you feeling lost, confused and that no one understands you. At other times nothing much may have changed in your life but you just feel out of sorts - for no real reason.

For parents... This is a difficult and worrying time for you, to see your son/daughter go through this stage, wanting to help but feeling unable to reach them. You may see them stressed, depressed, acting out, or see their behaviour change; developing eating disorders, or become more aggressive or withdrawn as they try and manage their emotions.

I have recently expanded to provide an ONLINE Counselling service for young people, to provide support to those of you who who due to location, circumstance, or just preference may want to receive support through an online medium rather than 'face to face.' For more information please browse this site and visit ONLINE COUNSELLING.
