Frequently Asked Questions and Bookings

  • How long are the sessions?

    Counselling sessions are 50 minutes.

  • How often are the sessions?

It is beneficial if the sessions are weekly to provide continuity and consistency, once progress has been made the sessions can be reduced to suit the needs of the young person, this will be assessed and looked at regularly as needed.

  • How many sessions will I need?

This will vary on the individual, and we can discuss this when we meet, counselling can be short term or long term, depending on your needs. I recommend that all clients have a minnimum of 6 sessions, this gives us time to get to know each other and build a therapeutic relationship and get used to each other. This however is entirely your choice; sometimes young people find that after a few sessions that they have clarity and strategies to move forward and may want to end counselling. Others may value ongoing support and want more long term counselling, together we will regularly look and reassess how things are and look at how long you would like counselling and what is right for you.

  • Where are you based?

My offices are based in City Road EC1V, Liverpool street EC2 and Spitalfields Market E1.

  • What is the fee for a counselling session?

I charge £50 per session, or £45 per session for block bookings of 6 sessions or more. I do have subsidized rates for students and other circumstances, please feel free to contact me if this applies to you.

  • I would like to make an appointment, what do I do now?

To make an appointment or if you have any questions please ring me on 07854 569844 or email me on teenscounselling@hushmail.com. If you are the young person please feel free to contact me or you can get your parent, relative or another adult you feel comfortable with to contact me. (Just a reminder that if you are aged under 16 I will need consent from your parent/carer) If you are happy to proceed I will make arrangements for an initial meeting at a time that is convenient for us both and we can go from there and see if counselling is the right path for you.

  • What will happen next?

The first meeting/consultation will be an opportunity to take a look at what has bought you to counselling and to explore what you would like to gain from the sessions. This will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have and if you feel this is right for you. After this you may want to arrange further meetings and we can discuss how many that may be, alternatively you may decide that you need time to consider, or I may be able to recommend other resources that may be helpful which will be discussed with you ... you are important, therefore your needs and well being come first and foremost.

If you decide that you would like further sessions we will look and find a time that is convenient for us both, we will look at how many sessions you may want to start with and agree a regular time each week.

Are you the right therapist for me?

I’m not going to be the right therapist for everyone. I suggest we have an initial appointment/consultation session to help you decide if I am the right therapist for you. To book an appointment, please call 07854 569844 or email teenscounselling@hushmail.com. If you have already decided that I am not the right therapist for you, I will be happy to provide you with names, resources and contacts that may be able to support you.

If you have other questions that I have not covered, please feel free to give me a call or email me; my contact details are: 07854569844 or email: teenscounselling@hushmail.com

All communication will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
